Benjamin Cleary is an Irish writer/director from Dublin. In 2011 he completed a Screenwriting MA at the London Film School. He chose to focus on screenwriting to learn as much as possible about the narrative side of filmmaking before venturing into directing.
In 2015 he wrote, directed and edited his first short film 'Stutterer'. It stars Matthew Needham and Chloe Pirrie. The film has been accepted into roughly 60 festivals at time of writing and has won many awards including an Academy Award for best Live Action Short 2015, a London Critic's Circle Award, an Irish Film and Television Award, an Irish Young Director Award and Best Foreign Film at LA Shorts Fest. Benjamin has been selected for the prestigious Les Nuit en Or program with 29 other directors from around the world to showcase Stutterer in 10 cities around Europe in June 2016.
